Election Day Information

Your polling place will open promptly at 6:00 am and close 7:00pm.

Qualifications required to vote

  • Cass County Resident
  • You must be 18 years of age to vote. A Person may register at 17 years and 6 months or older. You must be 18 years of age on or before election day to be eligible to vote.
  •  In order to vote in any election, a person must be registered to vote no later than the fourth Wednesday prior to the election.

If you have a name change

When a voter obtains a lawful name change the voter must notify the election authority in writing, in person or at any registration location. You may also make any name change by completing the information requested on the reverse side of your voter identification card. The voter may vote one time only under the previous name.

If you Move

When a voter moves, the voter must notify the election authority in writing, in person or at any registration location. You may also make any address change by completing the information requested on the reverse side of your identification card.

Absentee Voting

You may vote an absentee ballot in the County Clerk's Office at the Cass County Old Courthouse, 102 E Wall Street, in Harrisonville, beginning 6 weeks prior to an election date. Voting absentee is available until 5:00 p.m. the day before an Election Day and Saturday prior to an Election Day from 9:00a.m, to 12:00 noon.

The following is a list of reasons for requesting an absentee ballot:

  • Absent from the jurisdiction on election day.
  • Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability, including a person responsible for the care of person confined.
  • Religious belief or practice.
  • Employment as an election worker.
  • Incarceration, provided all qualification for voting are retained.

Requesting and Absentee Ballot by Mail

If you wish to vote by mail you must request in writing for a ballot to be mailed to you. A relative may also request a ballot for a voter (college student, etc.). A form to ask for an absentee ballot is available by going to the following web site: http://www.sos.mo.gov/forms/elections/absentee.pdf . An absentee ballot request must be mailed to the County Clerk's Office, 102 E. Wall Street, Harrisonville, Mo. 64701 or faxed to 816- 380-8101. The last day a ballot can be mailed is the Wednesday prior to any election.

The following information is necessary in requesting an absentee ballot:

              1. Jr., Sr., II, Etc.
              2. Cass County Address
              3. The address where ballot is to be mailed
              4. Reason for voting absentee ballot
              5. Date of the election
              6. Your political party preference if applying during a primary election.

Military stationed inside or outside of the United States may request an absentee ballot by obtaining a request form from a commanding officer.

Voters with a permanent illness or disability may request to be put on a permanent homebound list for voting absentee. For information please contact the County Clerk's Office at 816-380 8108.
