The Garden City Community Garden, located at 102 N. 4th Street, was created through a partnership with the City of Garden City to help expand access to fresh produce in an area where access is limited.

The garden consists of 15 raised garden beds:  

  • five 2'x4' single height (ideal for flowers or 2 tomato plants)
  • eight 4'x8' single height (traditional size and depth for a raised bed)
  • four 4'x8' double height (ideal for older residents and those with mobility challenges).

Raised bed rental is $5 per box for the season and water is included on site.  Sign up at City Hall.

We are looking for 3-4 local community members to head up the Community Garden Leadership Committee.  Interested individuals are encouraged to apply between May 15th and 29th.  See below for details:

Duties

  • Promotion of the garden
  • Leading outreach activities
  • Planning of the future direction of the garden
  • Day to day management of minor garden issues

Time Commitment

  • ~30 minutes a week, or 2 hours a month

Application Process

  • Fill out and submit the garden leadership application:  May 15-29
  • Review committee will evaluate the applications:  May 30-June 5
  • Leaders chosen by the review committee will be notified on June 6th
