Ryan Johnson
Commissioner Ryan Johnson was first elected as an Associate Commissioner for District 2 in 2020. This is his first elected office.

Ryan brings nearly 3 decades of experience in the military, education, healthcare, philanthropic, business, political, and public policy sectors to his role as a county commissioner. He firmly believes that a public office is a public trust. In office, Ryan is committed to government transparency, keeping taxes low, and making sure county government is accountable to the people it serves.

Johnson served eight years on active duty in the US Army and US Coast Guard as a combat engineer and corpsman. He is an alumnus of the University of Central Missouri where he earned degrees in political science and history.

Ryan has previously worked for a Missouri congressional office, a large Republican political consulting firm, and directed development efforts for a multimillion-dollar endowment at a major academic medical center. Johnson also co-founded and served as President of the Missouri Alliance for Freedom and is now the owner and President of a conservative free-market public policy group. He is a longtime advocate for personal and economic freedom and believes the legitimate role of any government is to protect life, liberty, and property.

Ryan is a member of Abundant Life Church, the National Rifle Association, Raymore Chamber of Commerce, The Federalist Society, and Cass County Home Educators.

He and his family have called Cass County home for over fourteen years. They are a homeschool family and are active in their church, their daughters’ local American Heritage Girls troop, and other charitable endeavors.
